Early Childhood Teacher

Early Childhood Teachers teach the basics of numeracy, literacy, music, art and literature to early childhood (pre-primary) students and promote students' social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.

You'd need to complete an Australian Bachelor/Graduate Diploma or a Master course in Early Childhood, to be eligible to apply for a Migration Skills Assessment.

  • Job Scope: Nurture and educate children aged 0–5 through play-based learning in childcare and preschool settings.

  • Migration Skills Assessment: Assessed by ACECQA; IELTS requirement is 7.0 in Reading/Writing and 8.0 in Speaking/Listening, but may be waived with 1 year of study in Australia in Bachelor or, higher level.

Can I study the 1 Year Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood course online?

Answer: Online study option is available to applicants who can study without a COE such as: Temporary Graduate Visa (TR 485). There are also multiple other visa holders who can study online but, Online study mode is not an option for Student visa holders
 

Do I need an English Test score to apply for the Graduate Diploma course?
Answer: Recent (within the last 2 years) Australian Bachelor/Master graduates do not need to meet the English test score requirement for course enrolment.

Can my spouse/dependent study the Graduate Diploma course?
Answer: Yes; only if the visa condition allows and the dependent has a Australian standard Bachelor AND, meets the minimum English Test requipment for course enrolment.

Secondary School Teachers teach one or more subjects within a prescribed curriculum to secondary school students and promote students' social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development.

  • Job Scope: Teach subject-specific curriculum to students aged 12–18 in high schools, preparing them for exams or further education.

  • Migration Skills Assessment: IELTS requirement is 7.0 in Reading/Writing and 8.0 in Speaking/Listening, unless waived with 4 years of higher education in English.

Childcare Worker & Child Care Centre Manager

Child care workers provide care and supervision for children in residential homes and non-residential childcare centres.
Child care centre managers plan, organise, direct, control and coordinate the activities of childcare centres and services including physical and human resources.

 

Child Care Worker (ANZSCO 421111) - Subclass 482 Sponsorship Pathway

  • Not eligible under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) points-tested visa streams (e.g., 189, 190, 491).

  • Eligible for Subclass 482 (Temporary Skill Shortage) visa through employer sponsorship, specifically under the Short-Term stream or Skills in Demand (SID) list.

  • Minimum 1 year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) post-qualification work experience required in the nominated occupation.

  • The applicant must be nominated by an eligible employer approved as a standard business sponsor.

  • The opportunity depends on employer willingness and eligibility - this pathway is not entirely within the applicant’s control.

Child Care Centre Manager (ANZSCO 134111) - Skills Assessment Requirements

  • Must demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) post-qualification employment experience specifically as a Child Care Centre Manager.

  • This experience requirement poses challenges for international students who:

    • Typically complete a 2-year qualification in Australia.

    • Are only eligible for an 18-month Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485).

The 3-year experience requirement exceeds the 485 visa length, making it difficult for graduates to meet the criteria within visa constraints.

Study option: Certificate III + Diploma in Early Childhood Education Care
