Western Australia conducted a State Nominated Migration Program (SNMP) invitation round in March 2026 for subclass 190 and subclass 491 visas. The round included occupations across construction, healthcare and specialised technical roles. The program allows eligible skilled migrants to receive state nomination from Western Australia, which adds additional points toward the skilled migration points test.
Construction and Trade Occupations
Several construction trades were invited at 65 points, which remains among the lowest invitation thresholds in the round. Many trade occupations were invited with only 65 points
Carpenter: 65 points
Bricklayer: 65 points
Cabinetmaker: 65 points
Airconditioning and Mechanical Services Plumber: 65 points
Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic: 65 points
Cut-off points were also moderate for Teaching and health occupations. Even further low cut-off points for applicants who had applied through the Graduate stream. Through the graduate stream, the cut-off points ranged between 70-75 for most in-demand Teaching and Health Occupations. Similarly, Social Workers were also invited with moderate points; only 75. Applicants who met this points threshold and who had applied through graduate stream were invited within 1 month of EOI submission. If you have studied in WA or intending to do so, WA seems very promising. Despite the speculation surrounding Perth's regional status, WA remains one of the most attractive states to consider for Migration.
Graduate Stream
Western Australia continues to operate nomination pathways for graduates of Western Australian institutions. International students who complete eligible higher education or vocational qualifications in WA may be considered under the Graduate Stream, provided they meet the state nomination and skilled migration requirements.
Priority Industry Sectors
The Western Australia SNMP continues to prioritise occupations connected to major workforce sectors including:
Building and construction
Healthcare and social assistance
Hospitality and tourism
Education and training
These sectors form the core of Western Australia’s state nomination program and workforce planning.
