ACT Canberra Matrix June 2026 Invitation Round: Low-Point Occupations and What the Data Shows

What the June 2026 Round Confirms

The Australian Capital Territory released its June 2026 Canberra Matrix invitation round results, covering Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated) and Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional) nominations. The round continues a clear pattern: healthcare and certain allied health occupations are receiving invitations at significantly lower Matrix scores than ICT, accounting, and engineering occupations.

For context, Accountants required 135 points for a Canberra resident Subclass 190 invitation in the May 2026 round. ICT occupations and project administrators clustered around 125-130. The June data shows those trends holding.

What stands out in June 2026 is the volume of healthcare occupations clearing the threshold at just 65 points for Canberra resident Subclass 190. This is the minimum effective invitation score - and it represents a genuine window for skilled health professionals who may have assumed ACT nomination was out of reach.

Why Low-Point Invitations Matter

The Canberra Matrix is separate from the federal SkillSelect points test. A candidate can hold 65 points on the federal test and still receive an ACT nomination if their Matrix score ranks competitively within their occupation category. For lower-demand occupations, that threshold can be relatively accessible.

The June 2026 round shows that certain occupations - particularly across health, education, and community services - are being invited at the floor score. This does not mean the nomination is automatic. The ACT government assesses genuine ties to Canberra, employment, and economic contribution. But the competitive score bar for these occupations is meaningfully lower than for ICT or accounting roles.

For eligible candidates in these fields, the ACT pathway is one of the more accessible state nomination routes available in the current program year.
