Western Australia’s Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD) Migration Services has released the last invited expression of interest (EOI) by occupation for the October 2026 Priority Occupations invitation round for four streams : General stream Schedule 1, General stream Schedule 2, Graduate stream Higher Education and Graduate stream Vocational Education and Training (VET).

  • The release lists 66 last invited EOI benchmarks: 23 in General stream Schedule 1, 16 in Schedule 2, 24 in Graduate Higher Education and 3 in Graduate VET.

  • The highest last invited score in the round is 95 points. It appears in 7 listings: Ambulance Officer, Medical Diagnostic Radiographer and Registered Nurse (Aged Care) in Schedule 1, and Cook, Registered Nurse (Aged Care), Resident Medical Officer and Retail Pharmacist in Graduate Higher Education.

  • Schedule 1 (health and social assistance) shows benchmarks of 85, 90 or 95 points. Eleven of its 23 occupations sit at 85 points.

  • Schedule 2 is uniform: 15 of 16 occupations show 90 points. Primary School Teacher is the exception at 65 points.

  • Primary School Teacher records the lowest benchmark in every stream where it is listed: 65 points in Schedule 2, 70 in Graduate Higher Education and 65 in Graduate VET.

  • Three Graduate Higher Education benchmarks sit at 85 points with 2024 submission dates: Cafe or Restaurant Manager (11 Nov 2024), Urban and Regional Planner (17 Nov 2024) and Civil Engineer (24 Dec 2024).

Western Australia's Latest Invited EOI By Occupation

Each row shows the EOI points score and submission date of the last EOI invited in that occupation once ranking was completed. That makes the figures a benchmark for the round: EOIs ranked ahead of that position were invited, and EOIs ranked behind it were not.

The release does not state how many invitations were issued per occupation. Every listed row shows Western Australia as the state of residence.

EOI Ranking Order For This Round

EOIs are ranked in sequence, so a step earlier in the list can place an EOI ahead of another with a higher points score. Steps 1 to 4 apply to every stream. Step 5 applies to the Graduate stream only, which adds a qualification step based on study completed in Western Australia, while General stream Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 move straight from step 4 to points and submission date.

  1. Currently residing in Western Australia.

  2. Currently residing offshore or in another Australian State or territory.

  3. Occupations in priority WA industry sectors, in no particular order: building and construction; healthcare and social assistance; hospitality and tourism; and education and training.

  4. Occupations in all other WA industry sectors.

  5. Graduate stream only, by qualification completed in Western Australia:

    • Higher Education: PhD or Masters, then Honours degree or other higher qualification, then Bachelor degree.

    • Vocational Education and Training: Advanced Diploma, then Diploma, then Certificate III or IV.

  6. Highest EOI points score.

  7. Oldest EOI submission date.

Occupations Listed in More Than One Stream

Several occupations appear in two or three streams with different benchmarks. Social Worker, for example, shows 85 points in Schedule 1 and 90 points in Schedule 2 and Graduate Higher Education. Figures need to be read against the stream and schedule in which an EOI was lodged.

Benchmark Insights fot Applicants
  1. The stream you lodge in changes the benchmark

The same occupation can have different benchmarks in different streams. Of the 10 occupations listed in both Schedule 1 and Graduate Higher Education, eight have a higher benchmark in the Graduate stream: six by 5 points and two by 10. Resident Medical Officer and Retail Pharmacist both go from 85 to 95. The other two, Registered Nurse (Aged Care) and Occupational Therapist, are identical in both. Between Schedule 2 and Graduate Higher Education the pattern is mixed. Of 12 shared occupations, seven match, three are lower in Graduate and two are higher. The release does not explain the differences, but the Graduate stream adds a qualification step, and the pools of EOIs differ. Check the benchmark for your own stream rather than for the occupation in general.

  2. Dates show how far the round got

At the same score, a later date means the round got further through the queue. Among the seven occupations at 90 points in both Schedule 2 and Graduate Higher Education, five have a later Graduate date, one matches and one is earlier. Early Childhood Teacher moves from 2 April to 30 September 2026, and Social Worker from 3 March to 21 September 2026. An EOI lodged after the benchmark date at that score was not reached in this round.

  3. Old dates are harder to read

Some benchmarks carry 2024 or early 2025 dates, such as Cafe or Restaurant Manager at 85 points (11 November 2024) and Retail Pharmacist at 95 points in Graduate Higher Education (22 February 2025). An old date can mean one of two things. Either the round ran out of invitations early in that score band, or few or no later EOIs sat at that score. The release gives no counts, so it does not say which. Applicants lodging now should not assume that an old benchmark means a lower bar.

  4. Primary School Teacher is the exception

Primary School Teacher is the only occupation with a benchmark below 85 anywhere in the release: 65 points in Schedule 2 and Graduate VET, and 70 in Graduate Higher Education. The Schedule 2 and VET dates are 25 September 2026, so the round reached recent lodgements at those scores. For this occupation, ranking steps such as residence and qualification may matter more than points. Every other occupation in the release stays at 85 or above.

  5. Using the benchmarks

Compare your own points and lodgement date with the benchmark for your stream, not just your occupation. The figures describe one round and are not a forecast. An EOI at or above the benchmark is a stronger position, but the ranking steps above can still place another EOI ahead of it. The release does not show the qualification level of the last invited EOI in the Graduate stream, so read those benchmarks as points and date markers only.
