Updated on 02 November 2026 Key takeaways

Migration Queensland has published the State Nominated Migration Program (SNMP) for 2026-27. Registrations of Interest open on 6 November 2026 for the subclass 190 Skilled Nominated visa and the subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional visa, and both occupation lists have been reissued.

  • Queensland published the 2026-27 program on 30 October 2026. Registrations of Interest open on 6 November 2026.

  • A new Registration of Interest (ROI) is required for every applicant. A 2025-26 registration does not carry over.

  • The onshore list grows from 201 to 209 occupations, and 170 of them are open to subclass 190.

  • The offshore list shrinks from 113 to 97 occupations, with engineering and school teaching roles among the removals.

  • The 2025-26 Notice of Assessment from the ATO is required with tax documents.

Queensland's Releases Its 2026-27 Program

Migration Queensland is the state nominating body and a business unit of Trade and Investment Queensland. Its 2026-27 update keeps the five nomination pathways: onshore, offshore, building and construction, Queensland graduates, and the subclass 491 pathway for Queensland small business owners.

Each pathway draws on its own occupation list and selection factors. Registration still runs in two steps, an Expression of Interest in SkillSelect and a Registration of Interest with Migration Queensland.

Queensland's 2026-27 Current Allocation Update

For 2025-26, Queensland's allocation was 1,850 places for subclass 190 and 750 places for subclass 491. A 2026-27 figure was not stated on the Migration Queensland pages reviewed. Allocations are set by the Commonwealth Government, so the number should be confirmed once published.

Occupation Lists Compared With 2025-26 Year

The onshore list is larger and opens subclass 190 to more occupations. The offshore list is smaller and has lost a number of engineering and teaching occupations.

Changes To The Onshore List

Thirteen occupations were added and five removed. Eleven occupations gained subclass 190 eligibility and two lost it.

Two occupations joined the building and construction pathway: Architectural, Building and Surveying Technicians nec, and Safety Inspector.

Changes To The Offshore List

Three occupations were added and nineteen removed. Urban and Regional Planner and Audiologist gained subclass 190 eligibility, and none lost it.

The four school teaching occupations remain on the onshore list, so the change affects applicants nominating from outside Australia.

Registration of Interest (ROI) and Document Requirements
  1. Registration of Interest

Every applicant needs a new ROI. Registrations from 2025-26 do not roll over, and the nominated occupation must appear on the relevant 2026-27 list.

  2. Documents and Timing

The documentation checklist sets a 14-day window to submit documents once invited, and a 60-day window to lodge the visa application after nomination. Tax documents must include the 2025-26 ATO Notice of Assessment, so a 2025-26 tax return needs to be lodged early.

  3. Additional Requirements

Some occupations carry extra conditions. Special Needs Teacher requires Queensland College of Teachers registration, and plumbing, drainage, gas, electrical and air-conditioning occupations need a Queensland licence to work in the state.

Queensland Occupation Lists 2026-27

The lists below show every occupation on the 2026-27 onshore and offshore lists, searchable by name or ANZSCO code. Occupations marked New were added to the list in 2026-27, and a filled 190 or B&C tag means the occupation became newly eligible.

Points To Prepare Before 6 November 2026
  • Check the nominated occupation against the 2026-27 list for the intended pathway, as an occupation may have moved or lost subclass 190 eligibility.

  • Prepare documents in advance, because the 14-day window leaves little time to source missing evidence.

  • Lodge the 2025-26 tax return so the ATO Notice of Assessment is available.

  • Confirm current fees on the Migration Queensland fees page, as third-party sites quote different amounts.
