Tasmania 2026-27 Invitation Rounds : October Breakdowns and November Expectations
Updated on 05 November 2026 Key takeaways
Migration Tasmania held six weekly invitation rounds between 1 October and 5 November 2026, following five rounds from 20 August to 24 September. Across the eleven rounds, Tasmania has issued 761 invitations for the 2026-27 program year: 459 for the Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated visa and 302 for the Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional visa. This recap analyses the October rounds, sets them against the opening rounds in August and September, and outlines what the figures suggest for November.
Subclass 190 invitations averaged 48 per round from 1 October to 5 November, up from an average of 34 in the first five rounds. The last two rounds (64 and 68) are the largest of the year so far.
The Subclass 190 lowest invited score fell from 331 on 1 October to 315 on 5 November. The first round on 20 August had a lowest score of 544.
Subclass 491 rounds stayed between 24 and 34 invitations. The lowest score was 71 on 1 October, the lowest of any round so far, and 74 on 5 November.
Places available stand at 828 of 1,250 for Subclass 190 and 628 of 800 for Subclass 491.
Only one November round is published so far, so the November expectations in this recap extend the October pattern and are not official guidance.
Round-by-Round Results Since 20 August 2026
The chart and table below show every round of the 2026-27 program year to date. Rounds from 1 October onward are the focus of this update, and the earlier rounds provide the comparison.
October Rounds and the First November Data Point
The 5 November round was larger for Subclass 190 than any October round, with 68 invitations against an October high of 64. Its lowest invited score of 315 sits one point below the lowest October score of 316.
Places available fell by 45 for Subclass 190 and 26 for Subclass 491 between 29 October and 5 November. A single November round is too small a sample to confirm a trend, so the next rounds will show whether these movements continue.
October and November Rounds Compared With August and September
Invitation volumes are higher in the later period for both subclasses, with the larger step up on the Subclass 190 side. Subclass 190 lowest scores sit in a much lower and tighter band in October and November than they did in the opening rounds.
Subclass 190 Invitations Rise as the Lowest Score Eases
Subclass 190 invitations moved between 37 and 45 per round from 1 October to 15 October and stayed at 38 on 23 October. The count then rose to 64 on 29 October and 68 on 5 November. The previous high before that was 45 on 15 October, and the first round on 20 August issued 20.
The lowest invited score has fallen in every round from 1 October, from 331 to 323, 319, 317, 316 and 315. That is a fall of 16 points over five rounds, compared with a fall of 192 points between 20 August (544) and 24 September (352). The largest single movement of the year came on 17 September, when the score dropped from 502 to 375. The October and November movement is far smaller and still downward.
Subclass 491 Shows Steady Volume and a Wider Score Range
Subclass 491 invitations stayed between 24 and 34 per round across the whole period. The six rounds from 1 October issued 176 invitations in total, an average of 29, compared with 126 and an average of 25 in the first five rounds.
The lowest invited score was 71 on 1 October, the lowest of any round so far. It then rose to 89 on 8 October and 88 on 15 October, before easing to 76 on 23 October, 75 on 29 October and 74 on 5 November. The weekly figures do not show what drove the rise on 8 October. The three most recent rounds are close together.
Expectations for November 2026
Only one November round has been published so far, so the expectations below extend the October pattern and are not official guidance from Migration Tasmania. Three more rounds fall in November on 12, 19 and 26 November if the Thursday schedule holds.
For Subclass 190, the lowest invited score moved by only one point when round size rose from 38 on 23 October to 64 and then 68 (317, then 316, then 315). That suggests many ROIs sit at very similar scores around this level. A lowest score within a few points of 315 is the pattern to expect if round sizes stay near recent levels, and a sharp change in round size would test it.
If Subclass 190 rounds stay near 68 invitations, the three remaining November rounds would use about 204 places, taking places available from 828 to roughly 624 by 26 November before any invitations lapse or are declined. That is arithmetic and not a forecast, and a slower pace later in the program year remains possible.
For Subclass 491, round sizes of 24 to 34 and recent lowest scores of 74 to 76 point to a similar mid-70s result in November. The rise to 89 and 88 on 8 and 15 October shows that a round can still reach higher scores briefly.
The signals to watch from the 12 November round are the Subclass 190 round size (64 and 68 are the largest so far), whether the Subclass 190 lowest score stays near 315, and whether the Subclass 491 lowest score stays in the mid-70s.
Guidance for Applicants
Subclass 190
The recent lowest scores of 315 to 331 give the clearest guide to where Subclass 190 invitations have reached. The score on the ROI is the figure to compare with these results, and the claims behind it need documents at nomination stage. A claim that cannot be evidenced can lead to the application being declined, so the ROI should be checked against the available evidence before the next round.
Subclass 491
Subclass 491 invitations have been steady in number, and the lowest score has settled between 74 and 76 over the last three rounds after the higher results on 8 and 15 October. Applicants considering both subclasses should note that a Subclass 491 nomination is not followed by a Subclass 190 renomination.
ROIs Submitted but Not Yet Invited
Most ROIs are not invited in any single round. Updating the ROI when attributes change, and keeping skills assessments and English test results valid through the nomination stage, keeps the profile accurate while rounds continue.
